10 Apr April Pointscore
Big and out-of-control surf on Saturday forced us to call off Glen Gilbertson Floor Sanding club contest no 2 in April. However conditions looked more promising on Sunday and the Opens and Masters were called on with an early 6ft solid east swell and good offshore conditions.
With long paddle outs and some rogue sets, it was hard work in some heats but the cream rose to the top and all the last three club champs made the final.
It was all about wave selection and when Jay Brown found a left closeout bomb he hit the lip hard and perfectly for the highest wave of the final.
Haydo tried to make a charge but couldn’t find a backup wave eventually going down by .09.
Jordan was third and then young guns Rhys Young Cooper Manion and in sixth spot the Masters winner and Garie renegade Ian Spencer.
Fishkiller took down defending champ Greg Brown, Sean Fitzpatrick, Gally, Jay McKenzie and Bevan Gosby.
