Congratulations to Ian (Fishkiller) Spencer for his runner up place to Paul Dupuy from WA in todays O55 Australian Titles at Sandon Point- Fishy ran a great heat just missing a last gasp set with a minute to spare, the waves were pumping . Bummer for Haydo who was given an interference in the O30 semi, tough call for a wave the other guy didnt even catch.
Good start to the 2026 Aussie shortboard titles at Wollongong this morning for our Sharks men-Hayden Blair taking a win in his first 040 heat and progressing to the quarters and the same for Ian Spencer in the O55's.Haydo is seeded into round 3 for his 030 campaign on Thursday.Jay McKenzie has to do it the hard way finishing behind Robbie Page and having to go through a round 2 qualifier.
"Today Cronulla Sharks Boardriders snatched the 2026 King Of The Beach board riders club battle at Elouera after the Head Judge reviewed Power surfer Jay Browns final score giving him a 6.33 which was enough to eclipse Elouera’s Shane Campbells 5.17 to hand his team victory by an amazing .04." Congratulations to the Cronulla team of Flintoff, Jay Brown, Haydo, Sonny Leong and Scarlett Gray- you couldnt have done a better job leading into our 50th year celebrations and I personally want to thank Rich Brown and the team for the effort. The Queen contest didn't go as well (congrats to Sandshoes), but thanks again to all the women who stepped up when we couldnt field a team- we are better for the experience. Up Up and dates for next years 50th will drop ASAP!
The 38th annual Northies Cronulla Hotel Alley Masters has been run and won at the Nth Cronulla Wall with a new Open champion crowned.Rain and low tide saw the day start slowly but the wind kept at bay and the 3/4 ft swell conditions improved all day until the Open final where inconsistency saw wave counts critical. In the u10s it was a masterclass victory by Michael Lunniss who actually scored the highest wave score all day (9.😎 It was another double in the u13/16s for Sonny Leong who took to the air to show his class and Jonathon (Budgie brain) Smith wiggled his way to victory in the o60's over Veage who could only waggle. The 45s was a torrid affair with the old boys competing for all the scraps with Dylan Longbottom just getting on top off the Fishkiller for bragging rights. It was a boil over in the strong women's division with junior Zara Hyland sneaking a couple of long lefts off three times champion Grace Gosby to claim her maiden win whilst in the Opens both Jay Brown and Haydo failed to reach the final by choosing to surf the Nth Wall lefts. Then there was always going to be a new champion crowned as inconsistent sets saw wave choice critical, Elouera's Soren Smith fell on his big chance whilst Jordan Widenstrom who dominated the semi finals couldnt catch his winner. Grace Gosby after her Womens defeat caught two good ones to be in front until Rhys Young cemented his legacy snatching his chance on the finals biggest and best wave to claim the winners coverted Blue Jacket. Thanks to Northies for their continuing support and in 2027 in the Sharks Boardriders 50th Anniversary year the Northies Alley Masters will run as a one big Open event like it did originally.
