13 Nov 9th Beaver Memorial
Time wasn’t on our side as we finally ran contest number 7 for 2020-the Brett ‘Beaver’ Shweickle Memorial contest on the first Saturday of December.
Sponsored by Beaver’s good mate Richard Maurer there was a small south swell running and an incoming tide which pushed us up the beach to Midway for the first time this year.
Once again the juniors got the best of the morning conditions and the Opens got in the water on a good little right/left peak as the tide was filling in and making it tough to catch wave quotas.
Conditions stayed good all day and as the tide dropped the Open competitors were left with some good clean waves with Jay Brown just keeping his nose in front of hard chasing 2019 club champ Jordan Widenstrom to take top prize and the 2020 club championship.
After a long day on the beach the U13’s couldn’t be split with Kash Brown and Grace Gosby neck and neck, Adam Brown won the 45’s after a triple drop-in, and Oscar Cafe the 16’s – Tommy Hegarty won the Micro Groms which did enough to push him into the top three on the 2020 point score and April Davey won the womens from a charging Grace Gosby doing enough to take the 2020 Womens Pointscore.
And just like that another year was done and dusted.
The 9th Beaver Memorial sponsored by Realm Drone Services is this weekend the 5th December in honour of our mate Brett “Beaver” Schweickle.
