31 Aug Alley Masters
After one of the best winters in years the 2020 Regallo Alley masters presented by Willett/Johnston partners in the memory of Dave Crawford has been a struggle to get done.
Last weekend’s 2-3 ft south-east swell looked promising early but as the day progressed the mid afternoon high tide killed the Alley bank and caused us to abandon the Open and 45 divisions.
With good waves for the juniors early the U13’s U16’s and Women’s all ran smoothly with the U10/parent assist also paddling out onto the outside bank.
It was a welcome return to competition for U16’s winner Kalani VDP who dominated the final linking two big rights to the beach and cementing his win early.
The U13’s was a little different with favourite and runaway ratings leader Kash Brown starting slowly but finishing strongly for the win.
The Womans was a competitive battle with dominant semi one winner Jazz and semi two winner April going wave for wave with last years winner April going back to back in Masters wins.
The U10’s are getting stronger every contest but last month’s winner Ollie took charge once again looking for the best section to hit for victory.
The Opens and O45’s will be run in next month’s club round-hopefully we can get some good waves.
