After last month’s July contest was abandoned after the junior divisions due to small waves, contest number four went ahead this month in great head high offshore waves.
With big clean lefts breaking out the back and a nice right suck on the shore we got away on time running like clockwork with two heats running simultaneously at several stages.
‘Surf and leave’ was still the message but restrictions have eased a little with competitor safety and hygiene always considered.
Kash Brown took the first final of the day dominating the U 14’s on the right shorey in the corner of the Alley.
The women’s final was tight with all the girls surfing out the back. Sam Walker took the top prize over Esperance Coppleson with club champ April Davey paying the price for catching bigger set waves that closed out.
Dane Decoque took the U16’s final with some nice right hacks and Adam Brown was the king of the over 45’s catching some nice good long lefts as the other competitors fought amongst themselves.
The Open final was a great finale with all the top three looking for the best waves. Jay Brown getting one back on Hayden Blair tearing apart two super clean lefts and Hayden just not quite completing his for second place – Jordan Widenstrom, Zac McMartin, Dean Jamison and Greg Brown taking the minor placings.
August Pointscore is on this Saturday at North Cronulla/Alley 7am start.
We will be running divisions with progression through to finals as a normal comp.
Format is normal but we need to keep social distance front of mind.
